The present study was conducted to assess the family environment and academic Anxiety of school going girls. The sample for the study consists of 30 government school girls and 30 private school girls. All the subjects were selected from 12th standard. The children were administered the family envrronment scale (Moos & Moos,1974) and academic anxiety scale Singh and Sengupta (1984). The most important findings are as follows. The private school girls have obtained significantly higher mean than the government school children in cohesion and control dimension of family environment. The government school girls have obtained significantly higher mean than the private school girls in achievement orientation, moral religious emphasis and organization. In academic anxiety the government school girls have significantly higher academic anxiety in comparison to private school girls. The correlations between family environment and academic anxiety are low and negative. There is positive correlation between active recreational orientation and academic anxiety in private school girls.Keywords

The purpose of the present study is to examine the level of emotional maturity and depression among the male and female students belonging to different levels of education (i.e. high school and college). The sample for the present study consists of 100 students drawn from high school (N=50) and college (N-50). Equal number of male and females were selected for the study. The emotional maturity scale (Singh and Bhargav 1990) was administered for measuring the emotional maturity of the students. The emotional maturity scale measures the emotional stability, emotional regression, social maladjustment personality disintegration and lack of independence. The Reynold adolescence depression scale was administered for measuring depression 2x2 ANOVA was carried out. The results indicated significant difference between high school and college students in all the factors of emotional maturity. There is sex difference in social maladjustment lack of independence and for total emotional maturity. For depression none of the main effects are significant.Keywords

The objective of the study is to assess the adjustment of drug addict s, alcoholics and normals in Nagaland State. In order to fulfill the objectives global adjustment scale adult form was used for assessing the emotional, family, health and social adjustment. A total of 90 subjects (30 drug addicts, 30 alcoholics and 30 normals) were selected from Nagaland. Accordingly four hypotheses were formulated. The results indicated significant difference among the groups in all the four areas. The drug addicts have obtained significantly higher mean in all the four areas of adjustment.Keywords

The article provides the research conducted on the people working in print media and electronic media. The aim of the present study is to assess the level of stress and mental health of people working in print and electronic media. The sample consists of 80 subjects drawn from lucknow. They were administered Mental health scale by Hussain and Sharma (1996) and life stress scale by Holmes and Rahe ( 1967). Mean, SD and two way anova was calculated for the data. The results show that there is no significant difference in the level of stress of print media and electronic media. Reporting group has significantly higher level of stress as compared to editorial group. There is significant difference in the mental health of print media and electronic media. Reporting group and editorial group has obtained more or less similar scores in mental health.Keywords

The article provides the research conducted on the school children with and without learning disability. The aim of the research is to assess the academic competence of normal children and children with learning disability. A sample of 50 students were selected for the study. (25 were normal children and 25 were children with learning disability). They were admmistered the academic competence evaluation scale (Di perna & Elliot 1999). Mean, SD and t value was calculated for the data. The results show that there is significant difference between normal and children with learning disability on academic skills and also on the academic enablers.Keywords
